Polk County Sheriff’ Office Detectives Arrest Winter Haven Fire Lieutenant/Lake Alfred Reserve Police Officer on Kidnapping and Battery Charges

At approximately 8:15 pm, on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a woman being forced into a car against her will.

42-year-old Michael Sullivan, DOB 2/28/70, 503 Granby Street, Lakeland, gave deputies the vehicle description and the tag number before the suspect, 44-year-old Bobby Creech, pulled away with the victim, 41-year-old Kaye M. Carlton, in Creech’s car.

Sullivan had been dating the victim, for the past few weeks, and the suspect had been dating Carlton for the past six years.

Creech discovered the victim and Sullivan’s relationship when he located the victim at Sullivan’s house. Creech demanded the victim leave with him; she refused. Creech physically forced the victim into his car and left.  Sullivan contacted law enforcement to report the incident.

Deputies contacted the victim via cell phone.  During the call, the victim denied being held against her will.  She agreed to meet deputies in a store parking lot in north Lakeland.  Creech arrived with the victim in his car.

When deputies talked to the victim alone, she stated she was afraid to tell the truth on the phone and that the suspect had threatened her life.  She said the suspect tried to coerce her into lying during the investigation. The victim stated she had been physically forced into the car by the suspect against her will. The victim had abrasions to her left arm, left wrist, and left foot consistent with being dragged.

The victim stated she is terrified of the suspect and the suspect has been physically abusive in the past. The victim stated the suspect has told her if he ever caught her cheating he would kill her and she was afraid for her life if she told the truth on the phone.

Creech is a Lieutenant with the Winter Haven Fire Department and a Reserve Officer with the Lake Alfred Police Department.

Creech was charged with Kidnapping, Tampering with a Victim, Battery-Dating Violence and a Baker Act was completed.  Creech was booked into the Polk County Jail this morning, Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
