On Thursday, March 10, 2011, Polk County Sheriff's School Resource deputies and PCSO Explorers (Explorers are high school student volunteers) conducted "Operation Pop Top" in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in various areas of the county. 

During the operation, an attempt to purchase alcohol was made at 8 stores, with 7 in compliance. 

19-year-old Brandi A. Suhina, DOB 8/27/91, of 5055 South Floral Avenue in Bartow, was arrested and charged with one count Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21. Brandi works at the Circle K Store located at 1020 North Broadway Avenue in Bartow.

The following stores were found to be in compliance with Florida Law and did not sell an alcoholic beverage to person under 21:

Citgo, located at 20500 US Hwy 27 in Lake Wales

Food Mart, located at 19300 US Hwy 27 in Lake Wales 

Circle K, located at 7695 SR 60 in Bartow 

Circle K, located at 5299 SR 60 in Bartow 

RaceTrac, located at 1690 N Broadway Ave in Bartow

Rightway, located at 4205 Clubhouse Rd in Lakeland 

Sunrise Supermarket, located at 3035 Thornhill Rd in Winter Haven
