On Wednesday, March 30, 2011, Polk County Sheriff's School Resource deputies and PCSO Explorers (Explorers are high school student volunteers) conducted "Operation Pop Top" in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in Bartow and Fort Meade.
During the operation, an attempt to purchase alcohol was made at 9 stores, with 7 in compliance.
25-year-old Rozel Hossain, DOB 8/25/85, of 15 South Hendry Street in Fort Meade, was arrested and charged with one count Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21. Hossain works at the Quik Way store located at 724 East Broadway Avenue in Ft Meade.
61-year-old Eddie Wilson, DOB 7/8/49, of 1510 East Georgia Street Lot 102 in Bartow, was arrested and charged with one count Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21. Wilson works at the Sunoco 7-11 store located at 1410 US Hwy 17 in Bartow.
The following stores were found to be in compliance with Florida Law and did not sell an alcoholic beverage to person under 21:

Value King, located at 201 S Charleston Ave, Fort Meade

Citgo, located at 6005 Hwy 17 S, Homeland
Citgo, located at 1405 Hwy 17, Bartow
