PCSO Undercover Detectives Arrest Wauchula Man for Lewd Activity at Mosaic Peace River Park

On Thursday, April 24, 2014, Polk County Sheriff’s Office undercover detectives conducted an investigation at Mosaic Peace River Park in Homeland, focusing on complaints of sexual activity occurring within the park. The operation focused on locating suspects who were soliciting others for lewd acts.

During the operation, 52-year-old Kevin Smith of 703 Oak Forest Drive in Wauchula, was observed exposing himself. Smith then made contact with a male PCSO undercover detective, pinched him and touched him inappropriately, and solicited the detective to commit a lewd act.

Smith was placed under arrest, and detectives inventoried his vehicle. Inside his vehicle, detectives located a Parke County Deputy Sheriff's badge (Smith said he purchased it at a flea market), knives, a billy club, and leather clothing and accessories.

Smith was booked into the Polk County Jail for one count Offer to Commit Lewdness, and one count Battery. He was released from jail after posting bond in the amount of $750.00. He has no prior arrests in Polk County.
