On Monday, May 5, 2014, Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 37-year-old Jorge L. Valcarcel, 932 Snell Creek Road, Davenport, charging him with Trafficking in Cocaine, Maintaining a Structure/Vehicle for Drug Use, Possession of Marijuana – over 20 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Child Neglect.
Detectives observed a person operating a Dodge Ram run a stop sign at South Boulevard West and Pink Apartment Road in Davenport. A traffic stop was initiated, the driver was identified as Valcarcel. Detectives found an ounce of cocaine in his jacket pocket, 16 individually wrapped baggies of cocaine, and a firearm in Valcarcel’s truck.
A search warrant for Valcarcel’s residence was obtained and detectives located three more firearms, $4,339 in currency (which was seized), over 20 grams of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 130 additional grams of cocaine.
Three children, ranging in ages 3 years to 16 years of age, were in the residence at the time of Valcarcel’s arrest.
Valcarcel made a full post Miranda statement regarding his involvement in cocaine sales. Valcarcel told deputies he was on his way to sell cocaine to a friend when he was stopped by the deputy and that he sells cocaine to make extra cash.
He was booked into the Polk County Jail.
