“After only 18 minutes of deliberation on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, a jury of his peers found this suspect guilty,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “We proactively seek those who would prey on children, including those who view child pornography or those who travel to meet a child for sex. Our message is clear – you will be arrested, you will answer for your crimes, and you will be held accountable. The State Attorney’s Office did an outstanding job with this case.”
On Thursday, June 27, 2013, 73-year-old Allen Robert Roth, DOB 12/20/1939, 1994 Scenic View Loop Lakeland, was sentenced to 30 years in Florida State Prison and was designated a Sexual Offender after being found guilty of 16 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, all second degree felonies.
Roth was arrested during a proactive child pornography investigation in October 2008. Detectives located over 50 images and videos of children, between the ages of 3 years and 14 years old. The images were of nude children engaged in sexual activity with other children, children being molested by adults, and children in lewd poses (displaying their genitals).
Roth was booked into the Polk County Jail and bonded out in November 2008 with pretrial conditions to include: no contact w/any child under the age of 18 years-of-age - direct or indirect; no possession or use of computer or internet access; no possession of pornography; and warrantless searches/seizures by pretrial release or law enforcement.
June 8, 2010, a warrantless search of Roth’s residence was conducted. Deputies found computers connected to the Internet. Roth admitted to watching pornography via the internet. Adult pornography, animated child pornography, and links to sites regarding incest were found on the computers in Roth’s home. Deputies also located one computer which displayed 10th Judicial Circuit Pretrial Information. Roth was again arrested, charged with Violation of Pretrial Conditions and remained in jail until his conviction today, June 27, 2013.
