At approximately 12:26 am, on Monday, July 12, 2011, the Polk County Sheriff's Office was contacted by the Waveland Mississippi Police Department regarding a Homicide suspect from their jurisdiction believed to be in the Polk County area. The suspect 31-year-old Jeremy Wayne Manieri, DOB 12/01/1979, was wanted by Waveland Police for the murder of 70-year-old Father Edward Everitt of Hammond Louisiana. Manieri was believed to be driving Everitt's 2011 silver Chevrolet HHR which was missing from the Homicide scene in Waveland.
Waveland Police advised PCSO detectives the vehicle had been tracked using the vehicle security system OnStar.
Detectives learned that Manieri had registered as a guest at the Days Inn Hotel located at 9240 Highway 192 Davenport with his ex-wife and their two children.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team, along with PCSO Homicide detectives, responded to the hotel where they took Manieri into custody without incident in the pre-dawn hours today, Tuesday, July 12, 2011.
When PCSO detectives interviewed Manieri he provided a full confession to the Homicide. Manieri also told deputies he bought tickets to Disney for his family with money stolen from the victim.
Manieri is a Registered Mississippi Sex Offender and has an outstanding warrant for Grand Theft Auto out of Escambia County, Florida.

4/5/05 - Waveland PD - Touching Child for Lustful Purposes, Gratification, Molesting (plead guilty 10/3/06); 3/28/08 - Bay St. Louis PD - False Information to LEO and 1/28/09 - Waveland PD - Contempt of Court.
Detectives do not believe that Manieri's ex-wife had any knowledge of the Homicide. Waveland Mississippi Police Department should be contacted for details of the ongoing Homicide investigation.
Manieri is currently being booking into the Polk County Jail.
