In an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors, on Friday, August 2, 2013, Polk County Sheriff’s Office School Resource deputies, along with the help of Polk County Sheriff’s Office Explorers, conducted Operation Pop Top.  A total of 15 stores in the north Lakeland area were checked, 14 of which were in compliance with Florida State Statues prohibiting the sale of tobacco and alcohol to minors. 

The stores in compliance were: 

BP Gas Station - 3304 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

Hess Gas Station - 3117 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

Mobil Gas Station - 2908 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

RJ’s Neighborhood Store - 948 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

7 Eleven - 851 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

Sunoco - 825 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

Coastal Mart - 2121 N. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

7 Eleven - 3031 Highway, 98 N., Lakeland                            

Express Track Amoco - 4225 Lakeland Hills Boulevard, Lakeland

Exxon - 4655 Socrum Loop Road, Lakeland

Sunoco - 6655 N. Socrum Loop Road, Lakeland

Hess Gas Station - 111 Marcum Road, Lakeland

Circle K - 7250 Highway 98 N., Lakeland

7 Eleven - 2993 Duff Road, Lakeland 

The clerk at the Mobil Gas Station, 3437 Highway 98 N. Lakeland, Dina Marie Shaw, DOB 5-28-74, 703 Union Dr. Lakeland, was charged with Sale of Alcohol to a Person under 21.  She was booked into the Polk County Jail.
