 In an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors, on Thursday, August 1, 2013, Polk County Sheriff’s Office School Resource deputies, along with the help of Polk County Sheriff’s Office Explorers, check 15 area business in the South Lakeland, Mulberry, and Bartow areas of the county.

The following stores were in compliance with the Florida Statute:

Alamo Quik Mart/Sunoco 4607 S. Florida Avenue Lakeland

CITGO Food Mart 5385 S. Florida Avenue Lakeland

XYZ Liquor Store 6025 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

Hess 6808 S. Florida Avenue, Lakeland

7-Eleven 7040 N. Church Avenue, Mulberry

Murphy Express 6801 N. Church Avenue, Mulberry

Mulberry Sunoco 1285 N. Church Avenue, Mulberry

Shell Station 104 N. Church Avenue, Mulberry

Sunoco 607 E. Canal Street, Mulberry

Bartow Sunoco 1900 W. Main Street, Bartow

Circle K 310 W. Main Street, Bartow

B.P. Station 1140 E. Van Fleet Road, Bartow

Circle K 1020 N. Broadway Avenue, Bartow

Race Trac 1690 N. Broadway Avenue, Bartow

One store was not in compliance. 

The clerk at the 7-Eleven 4975 S. Florida Avenue Lakeland, Irene Elizabeth Nash, DOB 8-8-92, 3673 Sandhill Crane Dr. Lakeland, was charged with Sell of Alcoholic Beverage to a Person under 21. 

Nash was booked into the Polk County Jail.
