20 year old Xavier O’Neal was out on bond for armed robbery when he was arrested by PCSO detectives for another armed robbery.
“Our detectives did an outstanding job getting this dangerous felon off the streets. He’s committed four armed robberies that we know of. We plan on making sure he is held accountable for his crimes by the criminal justice system.” Sheriff Grady Judd
According to the affidavit, on Sunday, September 14th at approximately 6:30 p.m. an armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS Store located at 701 Combee Rd. Lakeland, FL. The suspect was described as a slender, muscular build black male wearing black shirt and white pants with a green shirt covering his face. The suspect entered the store pointing a black handgun at two customers and an employee. The customers were told to lay down on the floor and the employee remained behind the counter. The suspect reached over the counter and took cash from the register. The suspect continued to point the gun at the employee and the employee gave the suspect several boxes of brand new mobile phones. The suspect placed the phones in a bag and he left the store.
A PCSO crime scene investigator processed the store counter for latent prints. Prints were lifted from where the suspect was seen touching the counter on surveillance video. An Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) “hit” was received on the print. The print was identified as being from 20-year-old Xavier O’Neal of Lakeland. Known photographs of O’Neal were compared to the suspect video and they were consistent.
Monday, (09/15/2014) detectives were contacted by the manager of the E-Z Wireless store. He told detectives that one of the stolen phones was activated on Sunday night at approximately 2200 hours with Metro PCS. The phone was a Samsung Galaxy S5, and the manager provided detectives with the telephone number. A search of PCSO records revealed that in June, 2013 Xavier O’Neal was listed as a suspect in another criminal case and his phone number at the time was the same number that was assigned/transferred to the stolen Samsung phone on Sunday.
Detectives searched social media sites using the same phone number and found a Facebook page associated with the same phone number. The name of the page was “Young Savage.” The profile picture on the “Young Savage” Facebook page is Xavier O’Neal. Photos in the album on the Facebook page are also Xavier O’Neal. Photographs of Xavier O’Neal are consistent with the black male suspect in the E-Z Wireless store surveillance video.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Xavier O’Neal for one count of armed robbery with a firearm and two counts of attempted armed robbery with a firearm. On Monday, PCSO detectives located Xavier O’Neal at 303 Brunnell Parkway, apartment 27, Lakeland, Florida and placed him under arrest. A search of the apartment was conducted and a black Highpoint .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was located in a bag in the closet. The cell phones taken from the E-Z Wireless store, to include the phone activated by O’Neal were located with the handgun. The shirt that matched the one worn by Xavier during the robbery and blue tennis shoes matching those from the video were also recovered.
Based upon further investigation, O’Neal was additionally charged with three other recent armed robberies in the unincorporated Lakeland area of north Combee: 1) Detectives found another cellphone at the Brunnell Parkway address that had been stolen during an armed personal robbery of a 36-year-old Lakeland man that occurred September 14th on Magnolia Street. The gun used and suspect information matched O’Neal and the weapon found as a result of the warrant. 2) O’Neal also matched the description of the armed robbery suspect of a September 5th personal armed robbery that occurred on Lakewood Court near Broadway Street in the north Combee area. A cellphone and cash was stolen when the suspect pointed a black semi-automatic hand gun at the 19-year-old victim. The victim in that case picked out O’Neal’s photograph as the person who committed the robbery. 3) O’Neal matched the description of an August 7th armed robbery that occurred on Tanglewood Street. Two victims, a man and a woman, were robbed of cash and cellphones at gunpoint. They also picked out O’Neal’s photograph as the man who robbed them.
On Wednesday, September 17, 2014, PCSO Robbery detectives obtained a search warrant for the home of Xavier O'Neal, located at 1240 Woodland Avenue in Lakeland, subsequent to O'Neal's arrest earlier this week for an armed robbery he committed at the Metro PCS Store on Combee Road.
During the search warrant, detectives located a social security card belonging to a victim of a robbery that occurred on July 13, 2014. The victim was robbed while she was walking down Morgan Combee Road by an unknown black male armed with a handgun. The suspect took her purse and cell phone. Detectives filed an additional charge of Armed Robbery against O'Neal in this incident.
Xavier O’Neal (of 1240 Woodland Ave, Lakeland) was out on bond for armed robbery (a Lakeland Police Department case) at the time that he committed the E-Z Wireless armed robbery. He now has a total of five Armed Robbery charges, and two Attempted Robbery charges. He remains in the South County Jail on no bond.
