On Wednesday, September 30, 2015, a PCSO deputy sheriff making a traffic stop on a vehicle in Waverly area that failed to stop at a stop sign seized approximately 450 grams of Methamphetamine from the driver.
43-year-old Arnold Brathwaite of 231 Avenue A in Waverly was pulled over around 9:15 p.m. that evening for failure to stop at a stop sign, when the deputy observed him throw two objects out of the car. The deputy recovered both items - a bag of Meth weighing 14 grams, and a fanny pack of Meth weighing 431 grams. The approximate street value of the total Meth seized is $15,000.
Brathwaite was arrested without incident and booked into the Polk County Jail on the following charges:
Brathwaite has been in the Polk County Jail on eight prior occasions, for Third Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Battery Domestic Violence, Resisting Arrest, and DWLSR. In 1998 he was sentenced to one year in prison for Possession of Weapon by Convicted Felon. In 2009 he was sentenced to two years in prison for Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. He was released from prison in 2011.
