Inmate Sergio Reyes, Arrested for Attempted Murder and Domestic Violence, Positively Identified Through Fingerprints as Illinois Fugitive From Justice

On October 4, 2015, PCSO deputies arrested 27-year-old Sergio Reyes, who resides at 4703 Acorn Drive in Mulberry and had a Polk County warrant for his arrest for Attempted Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery - Domestic Violence by Strangulation, and 10 other charges. According to the affidavit, Reyes punched, choked, and stabbed his pregnant girlfriend on several different occasions between August and October 2015. The victim and her two children are now staying with family members. Reyes has been in the Polk County Jail on $123,000 bond since his arrest.

On October 7, 2015, PCSO detectives received confirmation from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), into which all inmates’ fingerprints are logged after being booked in, that Reyes’ prints came back with a positive hit for a man named Emmanuel Garcia, DOB 6/11/1986, of Illinois. According to the NCIC, Garcia has a Berwyn Police Department (Illinois) warrant for his arrest for First Degree Murder, issued in July 2013.

PCSO contacted the Berwyn Police Department, and they provided PCSO with a photograph of Garcia, which positively matches “Sergio Reyes” mugshot image and Facebook images. Additionally, the name, date of birth, and SSN information provided by Reyes to PCSO upon his arrest does not match any records in the Florida driver’s license records, NCIC, or Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC). He is now being held on no bond for the Illinois charge.

Garcia, AKA Reyes, criminal history includes:

“This extremely dangerous suspect has been on the run for two years, but his evasion of law enforcement has come to an end. After he faces the multitude of violent Polk County charges here, he will be transferred to Illinois to face even worse charges. We hope his reign of terror has ended, and that no one else will fall victim to his violence.” – Sheriff Grady Judd
