Winter Haven Man Charged with Traveling to Meet Minor for Sex

On Thursday, October 31, 2013, Polk County Sheriff’s Office undercover detectives arrested 38-year-old James Fultz, 4248 Mahogany Run, Winter Haven, charging him with one count each of: Traveling to Meet a Minor for Sex, Use of a Computer to Solicit Sex, Use of a Two-Way Communication Device, Transmitting Harmful Material to a Minor, and Attempted Lewd Battery.

Earlier in October 2013, Fultz initiated contact with an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl online.  The conversations with the detective rapidly turned sexual in nature.

During the conversations, Fultz said he wanted to teach the 14-year-old “how to properly” perform sexual acts on an adult man.  Fultz sent an image of his penis to the undercover detective who Fultz believed to be a 14-year-old girl.  Fultz was told the child’s age numerous times and advised he did not have a problem with it.

Fultz discussed traveling to the 14-year-olds house and transporting her back to his apartment to have sex.  The suspect agreed he would travel to Aldine Combee Park on his day off to meet the child.  (Fultz listed his employer as Wal-Mart.)

When Fultz was taken into custody, he gave a full post Miranda confession, saying he knew the child was 14 and he made a “mistake.”

Fultz told detectives he purchased condoms on his way to the park.  Fultz told detectives he planned to take the child away from the park, have sex with her, then bring her back.

Fultz was booked into the Polk County Jail without incident; currently he is being held on no bond.
