 PCSO Deputies Smell Marijuana, Discover Grow House, and Make Five Arrests 


On Saturday, November 1, 2014, PCSO deputies on proactive patrol in Lakeland detected the odor of marijuana coming from the residence located at 746 Fairway Avenue in Lakeland. The odor was detected at a distance of 50 feet away from the home. Deputies contacted undercover narcotics detectives, who responded to the scene and discovered a marijuana grow house and made five arrests.

According to their affidavits, the deputies knocked on the door of 746 Fairway Avenue in Lakeland after smelling a strong odor of marijuana while standing 50 feet away. They heard the sounds of several people running around inside the home, and then saw an adult male jump out of a bathroom window. The deputies apprehended the fleeing male, identified as 48-year-old Jose Hernandez, of 17 11th Street in Hialeah. Inside the residence, deputies made contact with four other adults in the home, and found a marijuana grow operation, including a large amount of cut marijuana buds being dried out on screen doors.

Arrested were:

55-year-old Antonio Lopez-Perez, who rents the home; he was charged with one count Trafficking in Cannabis (F-1), one count Own Structure for Drug Trafficking (F-3), one count Cultivation of Cannabis (F-3), one count Possession of Paraphernalia (M-1);

40-year-old Yuri Duarte, of 222 Victor Avenue in Orlando; he was charged with one count Trafficking in Cannabis (F-1), one count Cultivation of Cannabis (F-3), one count Possession of Paraphernalia (M-1);

40-year-old Alain Garcia-Diaz, of 2711 West Cass Street in Tampa, he was charged with one count Trafficking in Cannabis (F-1), one count Cultivation of Cannabis (F-3), one count Possession of Paraphernalia (M-1);

40-year-old Ernesto Hernandez, of 282 East 19th Street in Hialeah, he was charged with one count Trafficking in Cannabis (F-1), one count Cultivation of Cannabis (F-3), one count Possession of Paraphernalia (M-1);

48-year-old Jose Hernandez, of 17 11th Street in Hialeah, he was charged with one count Trafficking in Cannabis (F-1), one count Cultivation of Cannabis (F-3), one count Possession of Paraphernalia (M-1).
