“Operation Pop Top is an effective community awareness tool,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “When proprietors see that we will not tolerate the illegal sale of tobacco or alcohol to minors, it sets a precedent.”
On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, Polk County Sheriff’s Office School Resource deputies, along with the help of Polk County Sheriff’s Office Explorers, conducted Operation Pop Top.
Three stores in the Bartow and Winter Haven area were checked, two of which were in compliance with Florida State Statues prohibiting the sale of tobacco and alcohol to minors.
One arrest was made. The clerk at the Cash-Mart 1290 34th Street NW Winter Haven, was charged with Sale of Alcohol to a Person under 21.
49-year-old Reeta Patel of Winter Haven, was booked into the Polk County Jail.
