Bikers Invited to Participate in LiFE and Kidz Poker Run

Polk Sheriff’s Charities, Inc., partnering with L.iF.E. and Kidz and Fantasy of Flight, is inviting
all bikers to ride in a benefit poker run whose proceeds will benefit the children of
fallen heroes on Saturday, November 10, 2007.

Last year, a poker run was organized in honor Deputy Sheriff Matt Williams and his K-9
partner DiOGi, who were killed in the line of duty on September 28, 2006. The funds
raised during that event went to the Williams family. Inspired by that event, a new nonprofit
organization was formed, called “L.iF.E. and Kids,” which stands for Law Enforcement,
Fire, EMS, and will help the families of any future officers, firefighters, or EMS workers
who are killed in the line of duty.
The event kicks off this year at the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch Girls Villa located on SR
60 in Bartow. Registration for all bikers begins at 7:00 a.m. Bikers will leave that location,
and with their maps in hand, go to several stops along the way: Ridge Harley-Davidson,
Polk County Fire Station 26, and Beef ’o Brady’s in Haines City, to choose a card from a
deck of playing cards. At the last stop, bikers will meet at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City to
see who has the best hand! Included in the festivities will be door prizes, a silent auction,
food, and live music.
This event is endorsed by PCSO, Polk County Fire Rescue, the City of Lake Alfred, Auburndale
PD, Lakeland PD, and Mulberry PD. For more information please visit

The media is invited and encouraged to announce this event in advance, and attend
any or all “pit stops” for photo and video opportunities. Please let Carrie Rodgers
know if you plan on attending.
