On Thursday, December 1, 2011, Polk County Sheriff’s School Resource deputies, along with the assistance of a PCSO Explorer (Explorers are high school student volunteers), conducted “Operation Pop Top” in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in the south Lakeland and Bartow areas of Polk County.
Eleven stores were checked, and all of them were found in compliance with Florida State Statutes. The clerks at the following stores refused to sell alcohol to the minor:

2) Citgo, 825 S Charleston Ave, Ft Meade
3) Food Way, 201 S Charleston Ave, Ft Meade
4) Dollar General, 109 S Charleston Ave, Ft Meade
5) Sunoco, 3 East Broadway Ave, Ft Meade
6) Circle K, 116 N Charleston Ave, Ft Meade
7) Mak’s Discount Beverage, 822 N Charleston Ave, Ft Meade
8) Quick Mart, 6005 Hwy 17 S, Homeland
9) Plaza Food & Fuel, 1995 Hwy 17 S, Bartow
10) Sunoco, 1405 Hwy 17 S, Bartow
11) Citgo, 1405 Hwy 17 S, Bartow
