On Thursday, June 11, 2009, during a 10 hour investigation targeting crimes related to quality of life issues crimes, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force, comprised of detectives from the Tactical Drug, and Robbery Units, concentrated their efforts in the unincorporated area of northwest Lakeland – 21 suspects were arrested as a result of the investigation.
Initiatives such as this are directed specifically at areas of the community in which criminal trends have been noted. Assertively combating quality of life issues for residents is the priority in these types of initiatives.
Those arrested were:
32-year-old Donald Brown, DOB: 04-15-1977, 3390 Avenue R N.W., Winter Haven. Brown was charged with Possession of Endocet (Schedule II), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
25-year-old Josbel Diaz Ruiz, DOB: 03-08-1984, 2214 Carolina Avenue #2, Lakeland. Ruiz was charged with DWLSR With Knowledge.
36-year-old Sean Wesley Jones, DOB: 10/28/1972, 1803 4th N.E., Winter Haven. Jones was charged with Sale of Cannabis within 1000’ of School, Maintaining a Vehicle for Drug Use, Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 Counts)
39-year-old Daniel Scott Pennington, DOB: 08-29-1969, 1630 Duff Road, Lakeland. Pennington was charged with DWLSR With Knowledge.
26-year-old Timothy Edward Eastman, DOB: 04-29-1983, 1612 Lunn Woods Trail, Lakeland. Eastman was charged with Possession of Cannabis with intent to Sell, Possession of Cannabis over 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
23-year-old Randy Eugene Mosqueda, DOB: 12-22-1985, 1644 Lunn Woods Trail, Lakeland. Mosqueda was charged with Possession of Cannabis with intent to Sell, Possession Of Cannabis over 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
44-year-old James Austin Kirkland, DOB: 01-07-1965, 4809 Puritan Lane, Lakeland. Kirkland was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Maintaining a Vehicle for Drug Use.
25-year-old Ronnie William Johnson, DOB: 03-21-1984, 2220 Woods Trail, Lakeland. Johnson was charged with Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams
43-year-old Michael Scarbro, DOB: 01-23-1966, 6116 Ross Creek Road, Lakeland. Scarbro was charged with Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
26-year-old Edward Joseph Persong, DOB: 03-17-1983, 7202 Sheffield Drive, Lakeland. Persong was charged with Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams.
21-year-old Cassandra Latasha Smith, DOB: 11-19-1987, East Patterson Street, Lakeland. Smith was charged with Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Giving False Name to Leo, and Warrant for VOP Battery on LEO.
25-year-old Lawrence Arvell Harmon, DOB: 12-12-1983, 4101 Chelsea Lane, Lakeland. Harmon was charged with Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Sell, Resisting Arrest W/O Force, Maintaining A Vehicle For Drug Use, and V.O.P. on Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Avilla was charged with Possession of Cannabis over 20 Grams, Possession with Intent to Sell within 1000 feet of Convenience Store, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Evidence and Driving with Suspended License.
24-year-old Daniel A. Diaz Soto, DOB: 04-09-1985, 320 Ariana Street, Lakeland. Soto was charged with Possession of Cannabis Less Than 20 Grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
18-year-old Ariel Lee Yordan, DOB: 12-17-1990, 2602 Sea Oats Circle N., Lakeland. Yordan was charged with No Valid Driver’s License.
