Arrest Made in 1999 Cold Case Homicide

Hilario Manuel Iturbide, DOB 2/29/72, of Haines City, wanted for the 1999 Christmas Eve morning stabbing death of 29-year-old Maximino Sanches Reyes, of 5370 East Hinson Avenue Lot #8 in Haines City, was arrested in Middletown Ohio, on February 17, 2007.

Middletown Police pulled Iturbide over for traffic violations.  Officers ran his identification through the National Crime Information Center, or NCIC, and determined that he was wanted for Second Degree Murder Charges in Polk County.

Middletown contacted the Polk Sheriff’s office and Sheriff Grady Judd sent Homicide detectives to Middleton to interview Iturbide.

“This is a perfect example of the tenacity of law enforcement,” said Sheriff Judd.  “Criminals may think that they can run from us, but they can’t run from justice, not even thousands of miles away.”

Iturbide will be extradited and eventually booked into the Polk County jail.
