Catch the Adoption Wave! PCSO HOSTS ADOPT-A-THON

Summer is just around the corner and that means lots of outdoor fun with friends.  So whether you’re planning to chill by the pool, or travel to the beach, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Section has a great way for you to dive into summer with a new friend!

The PCSO Animal Control Section is hosting an Adopt-A-Thon from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the PCSO Animal Control Section’s shelter located at 7115 De Castro Road, Winter Haven.

A variety of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens will be available for adoption.  All PCSO Animal Control pets will be vaccinated and micro-chipped.

All adoptions will be discounted to $25.00.  Each animal will be spayed or neutered, (in the case of puppies or kittens, the pets must be returned for spaying and neutering at a later date,) heartworm tested, vaccinated, de-wormed, licensed and micro-chipped; normally a $70.00 value.  Your new pet comes with a complimentary basic registration in a national pet recovery service microchip database.

Local vendors will be on hand providing products and services during the event.  The Doggie Bag, Four Paws Only, Sit and Trim, Rowdy Rottie will be on hand.  And the Polk 4-H Dog kids are playing “Are You Smarter Than a 4-H’er.”

Surf on over to Animal Control and Catch the Adoption Wave!  To view animals currently in our shelter you can surf our website at www.polkpets.org and select adoptable animals. For information on adoptions, please contact the PCSO Animal Control Section at 863.499.2600.

“A number of deserving pets are waiting for just the right home” said Sheriff Grady Judd.  “Help make this event successful by stopping by on April 10th and selecting your new pet.”
