The Eaton Park COPS Support Association, Inc., which supports the PCSO COPS (Community Oriented Policing) station and deputies located in that area, is holding an annual bar-b-que at the community park located at Ellis Avenue and Park Street this Saturday, October 6, 2007, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend this event, which includes a bbq chicken dinner with side dishes and dessert—all that is asked for in return is a donation to the association so that they can continue to help fund the COPS office utilities and maintenance. A PCSO Crime Prevention Specialist and various specialty units are also scheduled to attend. In addition to the food and displays, there will be a cake walk and a raffle.
Eaton Park is a community in unincorporated Polk County, located just north of Highland City. Sheriff Judd encourages residents to visit Eaton Park and witness the community partnership there first-hand, saying, “The COPS deputies and residents of Eaton Park have long been a shining example of how the COPS program works—law enforcement and citizens working handin- hand to police their area and prevent crime. We’re proud of this partnership, and I encourage you to attend this annual BBQ to share in the fellowship and fun.”
