On Thursday, May 13, 2010, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, School Resource deputies, along with the assistance of a PCSO Explorer, (Explorers are high school student volunteers), conducted “Operation Pop-Top” in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in the Winter Haven and Lake Wales areas of the county.
During the operation, an attempt to purchase alcohol was made at 7 stores, with 6 of those stores in compliance.
The following businesses were checked and found to be in compliance with Florida State Statutes:
CITGO Superway Convenience Store, located at 1218 Rifle Range Road, Wahneta
Circle K Convenience Store, located at 7695 US Highway 60 East, Alturas
BP Gas Station, 19300 US Highway 27 South, Lake Wales
CITGO Gas Station, 2500 US Highway 27 South, Lake Wales
Gate Gas Station, 2950 US Highway 27 South, Lake Wales
7-11 Convenience Store, 7011 Cypress Gardens Boulevard, Winter Haven
The following store was not in compliance:
Central CITGO Convenience Store, located at 19509 US Highway 27 South, Lake Wales
A Notice to Appear was issued to 38-year-old Mukesh Brahmbhatt, DOB 10-13-1965, 431 Majestic Garden Boulevard, Winter Haven.
