 PCSO Conducts "Operation Pop Top," Finds 8 Stores In Complaince 


On Thursday, December 8, 2010, Polk County Sheriff's School Resource deputies and PCSO Explorers (Explorers are high school student volunteers), conducted "Operation Pop Top" in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in the north Lakeland area of the county. 

During the operation, an attempt to purchase alcohol was made at 10 stores, with 8 of those stores in compliance. 

The following businesses were checked and found to be in compliance with Florida State Statutes: 

Circle K Convenience Store, located at 8328 US Hwy 98 North in Lakeland; 

Circle K Convenience Store, located at 7250 US Hwy 98 North in Lakeland; 

7-11 Convenience Store, located at 2993 Duff Road in Lakeland; 

One Stop Shop, located at 2993 Duff Road in Lakeland;

Kathleen Food Mart, located at 6403 Kathleen Road in Lakeland; 

BP Gas Station, located at 6316 Kathleen Road in Lakeland;

Circle K convenience store, located at 4415 Kathleen Road in Lakeland; 

Pix convenience store, located at 3025 Kathleen Road in Lakeland.

 

The following stores were NOT in compliance:  

Sandpiper Sunoco, located at 6655 North Socrum Loop Road in Lakeland; 

Hess gas station, located at 111 Marcum Road in Lakeland. 

Notices to Appear were issued to 46-year-old Mainul Chowdhury, DOB 01/01/64, of 5035 Asbury Parke Drive Apt. 205 in Lakeland; and 25-year-old Brandon Penvose, DOB 04/14/85, of 819 Fulton Green Road in Lakeland.
