 Operation Pop Top January 2011 


On Thursday, January 27, 2011, Polk County Sheriff's School Resource deputies and PCSO Explorers (Explorers are high school student volunteers), conducted "Operation Pop Top" in an effort to combat the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors. The operation was conducted in the Auburndale area of the county. 

During the operation, an attempt to purchase alcohol was made at 7 stores, with 6 of those stores in compliance. 

The following businesses were checked and found to be in compliance with Florida State Statutes: 

Dells Go Shop, 56 Coleman Rd in Winter Haven;

Marathon, 2003 US Hwy 92 in Auburndale;

USA Food Mart, 1401 US Hwy 92 in Auburndale;

Circle K store, 1000 US Hwy 92 in Auburndale;

Sunshine Mini Mart, 2105 US Hwy 92 in Auburndale;

BP, 1114 Berkley Rd in Auburndale;

A1 Discount Beverage, 1042 Berkley Rd in Auburndale 

The following store was NOT in compliance:  

Auburndale Food Mart, 1115 North Berkley Rd in Auburndale. 24-year-old Ashley Lynn Jones, DOB 02/12/86, of 23 Norman Lane in Auburndale, was arrested and charged with one count Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21.
