Polk County Sheriff’s Computer Crimes detectives arrested a Polk City man last night, Thursday, August 26, 2010, after investigation revealed he was downloading child pornography over the internet via the Xbox Live gaming system.
On Wednesday, August 25, 2010, PCSO received information from the Folsom City Police Department in California in regards to a male juvenile victim there who had been solicited online via the Xbox Live video game system by a Polk City man. The victim stated that the Polk City man offered to pay him in Microsoft Online points (redeemable via the Xbox Live video game system) to send the man nude photos of himself.
PCSO detectives obtained a search warrant and served it on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at the home of 22-year-old Timothy Wayne Hammerstone, DOB 2/26/88, of 339 Clearwater Lane in Polk City. There, detectives recovered his Xbox gaming system, a thumb drive, a desktop computer, and a laptop.
Detectives are still conducting forensics on the items recovered in Hammerstone’s home, however, detectives did locate, through initial forensics on Hammerstone’s flash drive, 16 images depicting juvenile males displaying their genitals in a lewd manner and/or images of sexual performance by a child.
Hammerstone was placed under arrest and booked into the Polk County Jail on 16 counts Possession of Child Pornography. He is being held on no bond, and will have a first appearance hearing today, August 27, 2010. The investigation is ongoing.
