 Sheriff Grady Judd Announces Several Promotions 


Sheriff Grady Judd is pleased to announce several promotions agency-wide. These positions were created as a result of several retirements throughout the agency, most notable of whose is Chief of Staff Gary Hester, who is retiring after an illustrious 31-year career with PCSO and who has been selected as the new Police Chief of the Winter Haven Police Department.  

The following members will be promoted during a promotion ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010, at the Sheriff's Operations Center, 1891 Jim Keene Blvd. in Winter Haven: 

Deputy Sheriffs Matthew Beebe, Larry Davis, Theresa Edmiston, and Ian Rylott will be promoted to the ranks of Law Enforcement Sergeants;

Law Enforcement Sergeants Julio Lima and Mary Martin will be promoted to the ranks of Law Enforcement Lieutenants;

Law Enforcement Lieutenant Bill Mann will be promoted to the rank of Law Enforcement Captain;

Detention Deputy Marco Avila will be promoted to the rank of Detention Sergeant;

Detention Sergeant James Nabors will be promoted to the rank of Detention Lieutenant;

Detention Lieutenant Craig Burke will be promoted to the rank of Detention Captain;

Detention Captain Mike Allen will be promoted to the rank of Detention Major;

Detention Major Bryant Grant will be promoted to the rank of Chief of the Department of Detention;

Chief of the Department of Detention Steve Lester will be promoted to Chief of Staff, taking Chief Gary Hester’s vacant position.
