Teal Court Home Invasion Suspects in Custody

Polk County Sheriff’s Office Homicide detectives have charged 28-year-old Garie P. Lamay, DOB 10/20/1981, 1813 Buchanan Bay Circle, Apartment 101, Orlando, with Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Robbery with a Firearm and Second Degree Murder, in connection to an Armed Home Invasion which occurred at a residence on Teal Court in Poinciana, in unincorporated Polk County, on Sunday, July 25, 2010.  Since the home invasion, detectives have been looking for four suspects.  As of today, three are in custody and one is deceased (as a result of being shot at the scene).

Through their investigation, PCSO detectives learned Lamay was the owner of the van used during the Robbery.  Lamay was arrested at his residence 1813 Buchanan Bay Circle, Apartment 101, Orlando.  Lamay was first booked into the Orange County Jail late Monday evening, July 26, 2010.  He was transferred to and booked into the Polk County Jail this morning, Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at approximately 10:19 am.

During the course of the investigation, PCSO detectives learned of a fourth suspect, 20-year-old Kamal L. Liburd, DOB 04/12/1990, 2323 McCoy Road, Apartment 504, Orlando.  A warrant was issued for Liburd late yesterday evening, Tuesday, July 27, 2010.

Liburd has been taken into custody today by the Orlando Police Department after arriving at Orlando Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his right hand.  Medical staff notified OPD, who in turn, notified the PCSO this afternoon.  Polk County detectives believe the wound was sustained during the Teal Court Armed Home Invasion.  Liburd also is facing Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, Robbery with a Firearm and Second Degree Murder charges.  He will be booked into the Orange County Jail today.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 32-year-old Steeve Vernet, 2323 McCoy Road, Apartment 628, Orlando, late Sunday night, July 25, 2010.

“This is another example of the community and law enforcement working cooperatively to solve crime,” said Sheriff Grady Judd.  “We appreciate the assistance of alert citizens who notified law enforcement when they noticed something unusual.  Because of this team effort, three Robbery Suspects are in jail.”

Lamay, Vernet, and Liburd were three of four suspects in the early morning Home Invasion.  Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the pre-dawn Armed Home Invasion on Teal Court, Kissimmee, on Sunday, July 25, 2010.

The victims were bound; however one of the male victims managed to get free and arm himself.  He then began firing at the suspects who fled the residence.  None of the residents were injured.  One of the suspects, however, was shot.

As PCSO detectives were investigating, Osceola County Sheriff's deputies reported a black male found unconscious outside of a residence located at 2450 Rambling Oaks Way, Kissimmee, in Osceola County. The man was deceased and there was a bandana around his neck.  The decedent was identified as 25-year-old Berthony Pascal, DOB 07-19-85, LKA 305 NW 100 Terrace, Miami.  Investigators determined that Pascal was one of the suspects involved in the Armed Home Invasion from Teal Court.
