“Lids” employee at Eagle Ridge Mall also arrested
Detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested 57-year-old Norman Bosley of Lake Wales for the sale of cannabis, possession of cannabis, delivery of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a shop for drug use. Bosley operates the ”Vivid Vaping Company” E-cigarette store at the Eagle Ridge Mall. Bosley is listed as an officer of Vivid Vaping Company, LLC on the Florida Department of State Division of Corporations Website.
“THC Wax is becoming very popular in states where so called ‘medical marijuana’ is produced and sold. THC is highly concentrated in the wax which leads to quicker and more dangerous intoxication. If the marijuana amendment passes in Florida, we will see much more THC wax, highly potent marijuana edibles, higher THC content smoked marijuana, and all the problems associated with them.” Sheriff Grady Judd
Detectives received a confidential tip that Norman Bosley at the E-Cigarette shop at the Eagle Ridge Mall in Lake Wales, sold marijuana and THC wax out of his Vivid Vaping Company store. An undercover detective made contact with Bosley at Vivid Vaping Company. Bosley freely discussed the use of THC wax (“Dabs Wax”) in E-cigarettes. During the conversation, Bosley opened a drawer behind his display counter and removed a plastic sheet with dabs wax on it. He gave the dabs/THC wax to the detective. They further discussed the undercover detective purchasing THC wax at a future date.
THC wax is a concentrated form of marijuana. It looks like ear wax or lip balm. It can be eaten or smoked using a bong or an electronic cigarette. It is made from the oils of marijuana plants and has a very high level of THC -- the chemical that gets a user high. Marijuana wax can be as much as 80% pure THC. THC wax is considered the most powerful marijuana concentrate on the market.
The PCSO undercover detective later met with Bosley at his store Vivid Vaping Company to purchase Dabs Wax. Bosley negotiated the purchase of a gram of THC wax for $50. He then escorted the deputy to the “Lids” store in the mall and introduced the deputy to 24-year-old Davon Starr of Winter Haven, who worked at Lids. Starr went into the back room and returned with marijuana wax which he sold to the undercover detective. Norman Bosley remained during the drug transaction. Bosley and the undercover detective then returned to Bosley’s Vivid Vaping Company store.
Detectives later purchased THC wax from Starr two other times, once at the Lids store and once away from the Eagle Ridge Mall.
On September 17, 2014 Polk County Sheriff's Office detectives arrived at Eagle Ridge Mall, contacted both Norman Bosley and Devan Starr, and arrested both men without incident.
Devan Starr was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell (3 counts), possession of cannabis (3 counts), possession of drug paraphernalia (3 counts), maintaining a vehicle for drug use/sale, and sale of cannabis (3 counts).
Bosley’s charges are listed above. Bosley has been in the Polk County jail on 11 previous occasions on a variety of charges including: withholding child support, worthless checks, disorderly conduct, failure to appear in court, DWLSR, aggravated assault, and violation of an injunction for protection.
