On Thursday, November 6, 2014, PCSO detectives arrested a Plant City woman for forging checks and stealing from a recently deceased 92-year-old Lakeland man.
25-year-old Lindsay Faye Meadows of Kilmer Drive in Plant City has been charged with forgery (3 counts), uttering a forged instr...ument (3 counts), scheme to defraud a financial institution, criminal use of identification of a deceased person and grand theft. Meadows is the mother of the deceased man’s great grandson (the father of the child—the grandson of the victim—is in prison). Detectives say Meadows stole three checks, forged them and deposited them into her own bank account (total of $7,500). All of the money has been spent or withdrawn from the account in cash. Two of the forged checks are dated the same day the victim died and one two weeks later. The checks have the forged signature of the deceased and were all endorsed and deposited by Meadows.
Meadows has three prior arrests on the following charges: petit theft (2 counts), possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, failure to appear in court (5 counts), grand theft motor vehicle, and burglary.
“Maybe she thought that stealing from the deceased would have gone unnoticed. It didn’t, and she’s now in jail. Thanks to Wells Fargo Bank, the victim’s family, and our detectives, Meadows is now being held accountable.” --Grady Judd, Sheriff
