Office of Professional Compliance

Captain M. L. Lawton

The Office of Professional Compliance (OPC) is a staff function within the Office of the Sheriff. The primary mission of the Office of Professional Compliance is to achieve and maintain the highest level of “Organizational Excellence” throughout the agency.

The commander, Captain M. L. Lawton who has a law enforcement and administrative background, is responsible for managing three (3) main components: the Internal Auditor, the Professional Standards Section, and the Administrative Investigations Section. These components perform a variety of staff administrative and ancillary support services for the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
