Jail Visitation Information

There are many rules that govern the custodial care of inmates. Inmate visitation is no exception. Listed you will find general visitation information.

 

Our Central County Jail Facility visitation entrance is located on the east side of our Facility:

Central County Jail Visitation

 

All mail should be sent to Polk County Jail, 2390 Bob Phillips Road, Bartow, FL 33830-3137 (Please include the inmate's booking number.)

 

Visitor Conduct:

While visiting the detention facilities it is expected that all posted rules and any further instructions given to you by the Visitation members are followed.

Any misconduct that is immoral or affects the order and operation of this program will result in revocation of visitation privileges. If applicable, criminal charges may be filed against you. General rules that apply:

    • Visitation is by appointment only at both the South County Jail and at the Central County Jail facilities.  Appointments must be made at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance.
    • An inmate may have only one (1) visit per day, and up to two (2) visits per week (Monday through Sunday). Two adults and one juvenile may visit each visitation day.
    • Visitation is held seven days per week at the Central County Jail and the South County Jail facilities.  It is NON-CONTACT only!
    • All juveniles must be supervised by an adult at all times.

ONCE YOU HAVE CHECKED IN, IF YOU RETURN LATE, YOUR VISITATION PRIVILEGES WILL BE CANCELED FOR THAT DAY.

Visitor Dress Code:

Visitors must be properly dressed before checking in to visit an inmate. Any clothing or clothing articles that are considered inappropriate will not be permitted to be worn. Proper undergarments must be worn. Some clothing articles and accessories are prohibited.

NO: See-through clothing, halter tops or tops with spaghetti straps, shorts or any other similar type of short outfit, pants that do not cover the knees, skirts or dresses that have slits above the knees, inappropriate language on clothes, swimsuits, hats or other items covering the head, sunglasses, watches, or other items of value. ( Any exception to the above stated rules must be approved by a Visitation member prior to the visit commencing).

Note: Before entering the facility all visitors must remove their watches and jewelry. The only possession the visitor may take into the facility is their identification and keys.

Mailing Money:

If anyone wishes to send money to an inmate, the proper address to do so is:

     Mail money orders only to:
     (Inmate’s Name - First and Last ) and (Booking Number - if you don't know the number, you can look it up here.)

     Bartow, Florida 33830-3137

Make money orders payable to the inmate and be sure to include his/her booking number. If you do not know the booking number of the inmate, please call the information line at (863) 534-6300. This will eliminate any problems if more than one inmate has the same name. No checks will be accepted and money orders are preferred. Also, any money orders totaling $100.00 or more will be held for ten working days.

Central County Jail Facility Visitation Schedule:

The following are cut off times for Visitation. Visitors are to call (863) 534-6153 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to make an appointment. Proper arrival time is  no later than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment and present proper identification. Visitors must have an appointment or they will be required to schedule an appointment for the following day.  Visitors arriving late will be required to reschedule their appointment for the following day.

Visitation Property:

Clothing Items:

Necessary items of clothing which are not distributed may be purchased from the commissary cart.

1 set of clothes for COURT ONLY (jury trial) to include:

1 dress or suit or shirt/pants
1 tie
1 pair of shoes

1 small buckled belt

Eye Care:

1 pair of prescription or reading eyeglasses.

CENTRAL COUNTY JAIL FACILITY: Property may be left between 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. during visitation only.

SOUTH COUNTY JAIL FACILITY: Property may be left between 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. on weekend visitation days and 11:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. on Monday through Friday, during visitation only.

Visitor Identification:

ADULTS: Either a current and valid State identification card, military identification, passport or State Driver’s license. No photocopies will be honored.

JUVENILES (Under 18): All visiting juveniles must be accompanied by an adult, and they must present either a "Department of Vital Statistics" original or certified copy of their birth certificate, or a current and valid "Ident-A-Kid." Certificates of birth from a hospital or birth certificates stamped "Not a Certified Copy" or that lack the raised seal are not considered proper identification.  The parents' names must be listed and no photocopies will be honored.

If you are not the natural parent, the following documentation must be provided:

Birth certificate of the juvenile

Legal guardianship paperwork

A notarized statement containing the following information: The date of the visit, the name of the juvenile you are bringing, the name of the visitor accompanying the juvenile, the name of the inmate to be visited, and the printed name and signature of the parent granting this juvenile the visit.

NOTE: INMATES CAN NOT GRANT GUARDIANSHIP FOR THE PURPOSE OF HAVING THEIR MINOR CHILD VISIT THEM. NOTARIZED STATEMENTS FROM AN INMATE WILL NOT BE HONORED.
