Bureau of Criminal Investigations

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) has responsibility for investigating major/significant crimes within Polk County.  This Bureau is divided into a number of specialized investigative sections, which focus on specific categories as they relate to criminal investigations.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations consists of four specialized sections.

These sections are all integral parts of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office as they relate to investigating major/significant crimes occurring within our county.

The members of The Bureau of Criminal Investigations is centralized and works countywide.  Both detectives and civilians work together to solve these major crimes.  BCI detectives assume these investigations from patrol members in order to devote more time to significant crimes and enable patrol members to continue responding to calls for service.

Members of The Bureau of Criminal Investigations work together in order to achieve a common goal.  The Bureau often relies on help from the community in solving crimes.  By working together with the community, we can make a positive difference and create a safer place in which to live.
