Patrol Platoons

Patrol is composed of four (4) platoons providing twenty-four hour coverage to the unincorporated areas of the county. The men and women assigned to patrol perform the most visible and recognizable functions of the Sheriff's Office. They respond to your calls for assistance. You will find them in your neighborhoods behind the wheel of a patrol car, looking for a lost child, comforting the victim of a crime, or questioning someone who doesn't appear to belong in your neighborhood. Deputies assigned to the patrol are, quite often, the agency's first line of defense in preventing and solving crime.

Echo Platoon

The Echo Platoon is comprised of different units designed to provide specialized services to the community and support to the Patrol Platoons. These specialized units are Community Oriented Policing (COP’s), PROCAP, General Crimes, and K-9.

PROCAP Squads

Each district has two (2) PROCAP units. One unit works the Alpha/Delta rotation and the other works the Bravo/Charlie rotation. This ensures coverage seven (7) days a week. Each unit consists of a sergeant and several deputies. The individuals selected for these units are highly motivated with a proven history of pursuing criminals and addressing quality of life issues within the communities. The teams utilize PROCAP data on a daily basis to direct their efforts in preventing crime, stopping criminal activity, and arresting offenders.

Community Oriented Policing (COPS's)

The Community Oriented Policing Units (COPS) are located in selected communities throughout the county. These Deputies provide direct support to their communities in a variety of methods. They attend community meetings, foster relationships with community leaders, and act as liaisons between citizens and Government. COPS deputies perform bicycle and foot patrols in their communities, providing a more personal style of law enforcement than traditional methods.
