Despite an extensive search on ground and by air, Polk County Sheriff'sOffice, Central District, deputies have been unable to locate an 80-year-old Gordonville woman missing since Friday (August 22, 1997) morning.

Ella Murray, of 3311 Gate Road, Gordonville, was reported missing by Ms. Mary Denmark, a roommate of the elderly woman. Mrs. Murray was reported missing at 9 a.m., but may have left her home earlier in the morning.

Mrs. Murray, who is currently taking mild doses of high blood pressure medication, which she does not have with her, has a recent history of memory problems and can sometimes become confused.

A door-to-door search of the Gordonville area east of Bartow, combined with an extensive ground search by deputies, K-9 and the Sheriff's Office Mounted Enforcement Unit, has been conducted during the last five days. The Sheriff's Office FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) helicopter flown over the surrounding neighborhood and wooded areas also has been unsuccessful in locating thewoman.

Mrs. Murray is described as being 5'6" tall, weighing about 120 pounds. Shewas last seen wearing a red and white top with lavendar-colored velvet pants.

A possible sighting of Mrs. Murray at Wal-Mart in Bartow on Saturday (Aug.23,1997) has been unconfirmed.
