Two men arrested in Davenport for racing

Media Contact: Brian Bruchey

On Thursday, February 5, 2926, at around 7:13 pm, a PCSO sergeant was in the area of Lake Wilson Road and Town Center Boulevard in Loughman (north of Davenport), when he noticed a motorcyclist on a blue Yamaha sport bike doing a wheelie.

The motorcyclist then began racing with a black 2020 Chevy Camaro as they traveled west on Ronald Reagan Parkway.

The sergeant coordinated with other units via the radio while continuing to follow the two vehicles from a distance.

The Camaro and motorcycle both entered a left-turn only lane and stopped at a traffic light, at which time, the sergeant activated his emergency lights, blocked the motorcycle, and quickly detained the operator. Other units pulled-up on scene and detained the driver of the Camaro.

The driver of the Camaro was identified as 21-year old Aquiles Ortega-Rodriguez

The motorcyclist was identified as 19-year old Dereck Castro-Molina of Davenport.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Sheriff's Processing Center.

Ortega-Rodriguez was charged with: Racing (F3) and Reckless Driving (M1). He is in the United States illegally from Venezuela. Due to this, his charges were enhanced one degree, and ICE has placed a HOLD on him.

Castro-Molina was charged with Racing (M1) and Reckless Driving (M2) as well. Castro was also issued a citation for the wheelie (which carries a fine of $1,164).

Deputies learned that Castro-Molina obtained his motorcycle in October of 2025, and he was arrested on December 2, 2025 by Haines City Police for driving 106 mph in a 55 mph zone.
