On May 3, 1990, 24-year-old Katherine Theresa Courtney was found dead on the north side of Almburg Road, north of the Waverly area of Lake Wales.  She had been beaten and strangled. Courtney frequented Hobb’s Road and Derby Avenue in Auburndale.
